In this video I show you how to get the achivement, "I love you when you rough-house." All you do is go to, Times square, then the race to the roof level. Once on the level, go into the office with the drafting tables and do at least $10000 worth of damage. Then defeat the mini marshmellow critters and leave the room to get your achivement. $20 Drafting Table Project: Part 1

I recently purchased a drafting table at a yard sale for $20. It is a Hamilton 72"x 37 1/2" and looks to be from the 1960s It is a greenish-tan color with two drawers. On the solid wood top is a green Vyco surface covering that is warped and needs replacing. There are surprisingly few scratches but it has a little surface rust on the foot rest. Overall, this desk is amazing and to buy a new one just like it would cost me around $1000. I am going to aim for a total project budget around $250, which will include a new surface, new paint, and new tilt hardware. To prevent it from deteriorating I will be repainting it with Grey Rust-Oleum Hammered Paint. The frame is all metal, but the drawers are wood. I will be using spray cans for the drawers and brush on for the frame. This video shows the first coat of paint on the small drawer. Since the drawer face is wood, I used a scrap board to test the paint & It looks like 4-5 coats should do the job. Sorry for the poor camera work, I started to paint while looking through my iphone screen and realized that it wasn't working. Maybe next time I will get an assistant to hold the camera for me. (BTW I know my spray painting style is less than perfect. I am just demonstrating the color change and documenting the project)

Manual Deskterity: An Exploration of Simultaneous Pen + Touch Direct Input

Manual Deskterity is a prototype digital drafting table that supports both pen and touch input. We explore a division of labor between pen and touch that flows from natural human skill and differentiation of roles of the hands. We also explore the simultaneous use of pen and touch to support novel compound gestures. We advocate a division of labor between pen and touch: the pen writes, touch manipulates, and the combination of pen+touch yields new tools. This articulates how our system interprets unimodal pen, unimodal touch, and multimodal pen + touch inputs, respectively. We contribute novel pen + touch gestures that leverage the strengths of both pen and touch; utilizing both modalities to complement one another also enables us to largely sidestep the weaknesses inherent in each modality as well.

Drafting Table Solidworks Demo

A quick "time lapse" of each individual part in the design tree being mated together. The program I used was Solidworks 2010. This is the second real-world object I designed and created in Solidworks out of individual parts. The other normal table I designed didn't seem intricate enough. My model was the drafting tables in my drafting high school class. Besides some screws, support brackets, and the keyboard tray I attempted, I have every detail down. The doors are more functional then the real thing, and the parallel slides. Unfortunately, I had to make the parallel wire cosmetic. Like all of my recent drawings, I incorporated my Companion Cube "signature". This video is a little jumpy and sudden when I reorient the screen. I'm getting experienced though!
